Outline:
The LPG Australia National Personnel Certification Scheme provides personnel employed in the LPG industry and engaged in critical employment codes, with formal recognition of their knowledge, skills, personal attributes and supporting qualifications, and that they are able to perform competently, and apply safe and compliant work practices.
To gain Level 1 (Low Risk) Personnel Certification the applicant is required to demonstrate a level of knowledge commensurate with the requirement to understand and apply specific low risk practices in the LPG industry.
To gain Level 2 (High Risk) Personnel Certification the applicant is required to demonstrate knowledge, specific skills (under operating conditions), personal attributes and supporting qualifications, commensurate with the requirement to understand and apply specific high risk work practices in the LPG industry.
(Personal Assessment - PAAS Master® - Assessment is suspended pending further validation)
Level 2 (High Risk) Personnel Certification includes four specific employment codes (Scopes)
- LPG Tanker Driver
- LPG Cylinder Filler
- LPG Autogas Installer / Retrofitter
- LPG Equipment Maintainer (under development)
LPG Australia administers the National Personnel Certification Scheme as a service to its members and the industry.
Benefits of Personnel Certification:
The benefits of Personnel Certification extend from the person, through the industry and into Government authorities, and include;
- The certification process recognises prior learning (RPL) and current competencies (RCC) through a wide range of current certifications and qualifications. For many people employed in the LPG industry, their current levels of knowledge and skills may be sufficient for certification;
- The on-going validation of the Scheme via the LPG Australia Scheme Committee ensures that the Certification remains valid and cognisant of changes in operational practice, regulations, national standards etc;
- Personnel Certification provides a ‘qualification passport’ for persons seeking employment throughout the LPG Industry;
- Recognition of certified people by businesses, authorities and employers; and
- The Scheme operator is accredited and audited to ISO / IEC 17024:2003.
What Personnel Certification will not do:
Personnel Certification does not replace the training needed by industry personnel to operate safely in the LPG industry. Personnel Certification recognises training outcomes.
Personnel Certification is not a short-cut to the various qualifications needed in many occupations in the LPG industry.
Summary of Certification Requirements:
